"Stockholm based KISSEY embodies the word creator in every sense of the word. She seamlessly moves between the worlds of fashion and music, putting out material as a singer, producer, DJ, artist, performer and muse. Her music style is similarly varied, drawing from the darker side of electronica, while wandering into the realms neo-soul and hip hop. Released this summer, her latest EP, Unplug The Delusional Monkey displays KISSEY’s knack for experimentation and a journey into more irreverent lyrical territory. We caught up with the artist to learn more about her process, hometown and how she deals with the stress of our increasingly chaotic world." - Culture Collide

"For Swedish electronic musician Kissey, her songs come with three simple steps: lean in, listen, and learn. The multitalented singer/songwriter/producer/artist, whose career began with the help of a math teacher in a Stockholm classroom years ago, is back with a new album and new label.

Released on Brooklyn’s Fools Gold, her Unplug the Delusional Monkey EP definitely takes the prize for the strangest album title of the year, but comes away with a fresh take on electronica and hip-hop." - OUT

KISSEY sat down at a cafe in Williamsburg with OUT and conversed about the Delusional Monkey EP, how her math teacher taught her how to DJ, and individualism.

"A rarity in pop music, KISSEY’s music is accessible while not really sounding like anything else out there at the moment. It’s refreshing but is not afraid to embrace a bit of darkness." - Highsnobiety

"Now, she’s staying true to herself with her first EP on A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label. Aiming to meld electronica with hip hop and rock, on ‘Unplug The Delusional Monkey’, the Swedish singer has teamed up with Puff Daddy-affiliated producers Sean C & LV. Coming across like a more soulful Portishead or a one-woman Gorillaz, her dark, moving and energetic trip-hop stylings delicately balance a variety of sounds." - Mixmag

"I met with [director] Nick Ace and told him about how I was working on transferring a lot of energy that I was honing in meditation to creating the EP itself, and how this was a completely new way of creating for me," she said. "As we continued to talk - he taught me about how photographers in the late 19th century did extensive exposure-experiments to "prove" that other dimensions existed and how he had been extremely interested with this lately. He wanted to translate that energy in to this video. It all became such a beautiful correlation to me personally; I was reading about String Theory and the theory of an existing multiverse, and I feel is the same vibration of proving something we yet can not see."
